Apples in Oak Glen

A few weeks ago I went with friends to the town of Oak Glen a little outside of Los Angeles. It felt like much farther away than it was geographically. We went to an apple orchard and picked winesap apples straight from the trees, conjuring up contest categories for the biggest, reddest, cutest, etc. apples we could find. The mist and fog and cold weather went perfectly with hot apple cider and mini apple donuts that we got later in the day. And over all, the perfect way to ring in fall.
