Film Fridays - Los Angeles Toy Camera Photography

Second addition to the Film Fridays project. This shot was taken in West Hollywood somewhere around the Lomography Store when I did an afternoon workshop on the Diana F+ camera this summer. I have a thing for taking pictures of power lines - I like the way they criss cross through the sky and instantly add an industrial mark to natural landscapes. I have more film shots of power lines that will probably make their way to more Film Fridays, but in the midst of all the rain and cold weather in LA right now, here's a cheery summer shot to brighten your day!

You & Me & the Moon

I'm apparently continuing my obsession with power lines. I came out from a Starbucks one evening to see the sun setting in the distance and the sky turning cool colors in the process. None of these have been edited yet, though I may try to make some of the backgrounds different colors later. My husband said the first one looked like a modern version of an Edward Hopper painting, which is about the coolest compliment ever.

Palm Trees and Power Lines

Last week I was up for sunrise and noticed how pretty the silhouettes of the power lines across the street from my apartment looked in the early morning light. I took a few pictures of the sun coming up, the moon going down, and some that are just plain power lines. Then I played around with the colors on some of my favorite ones and now it looks like the view from my place is from another planet. Or in the middle of really psychedelic smog. But in a pretty way, right?

My streets

Semi-random images from in and around my neighborhood. The second picture is of the Orange Line metro. The others were just taken at various places around the Valley. I love being able to see the moon in the daylight, and liked how a neighbor's satellite dish was facing opposite the moon on that particular day.
